This list will not be complete without mentioning Umm Zakkiyah.

Her books are mostly theological and eye-opening even with her fictions. “If I should speak” is the first of the trilogy, and it navigates the lives of three college students, one Christian and the others Muslim, who find themselves roommates.

6. Saints and Misfits by S.K Ali

7. Love in a Headscarf by Shelina Zahra Janmohamed

What secrets are kept under a headscarf?

Well, in this book, you’ve got your answer in the journey of a young Muslim woman who chooses the traditional route of arranged marriage to find the one.

Another book about romance, yes? You’d have to read it to see it has so much more, and perhaps, get a few tips on finding ‘the one’.

8. Love from A to Z by S.K Ali

Another one by S.K Ali? Just couldn’t resist, this is another good one.

How is reading up about two young Muslims with different POVs? Even though the title highly suggests the book is about romance, it is only one of the major themes of the book. Love from A to Z also explores themes of Islamophobia, grief, death and dealing with chronic illness. It is highly educative.

Do you have any interesting fictional books you want to add to the list? We’d love to hear them!
