Let me tell you a story
Sometime ago, I was reading the book Miracles of Love by Coach Eby where he wrote about his encounter with a young lady named Sally. During their conversation, Sally told coach Eby about her problem, and he advised her to turn to Jesus for a solution.
Now, this is where I’m going. Sally insisted she couldn’t believe what or who she had not seen. So Coach Eby did a little exercise. He asked Sally if she had a mother, and she said yes. Then he said her mother was not her mother. They had a lot of back and forth, but Sally insisted.
The coach asked her for proof but she got stuck. Coach Eby calmly said these following words, “…Sally you know she is your mother and I know she is your mother, but we accept only through faith”.
Similarly, it is through faith that we understand that the world was framed with the word of God. That is the power of faith. Faith works by believing the unseen. Faith does not work with human calculation or reasoning. Faith is not logical, it is crazy.
Romans 1:17- For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Faith has three pillars:
- Faith in Adoption
- Faith in Salvation
- Faith in God’s word
Faith in adoption constantly reminds us that God is our father. An assurance that even if we cannot see Him, we know that we are children of the most high God and we claim it, through faith.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Faith in salvation is an assurance that when we believe in the begotten son, we will be saved. Though we were not there when the sacrificial lamb was crucified, yet it is faith that draws us unto hope and believe that those who believe should not perish but have an everlasting life.
2 Timothy 3:15 says, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”.
God has promises for His children and He cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). There is no problem we might be facing that God does not have answers for. We need faith to activate these promises in our lives.
Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
The Bible records some people who led exceptional faith lives. They include:
- Enoch: Hebrews 11:5 says it was by faith that Enoch was translated that He should not see death and he was not found because God took him.
- Verse 23 says it was by faith that Moses led the children of Israel through the red sea across the wilderness to the land of Canaan.
- Abraham believed that God would give him a son in his old age, and it was so. By faith, he left his father’s house to a land where God told him to go (Hebrews 11:8).
Hebrews 11 is littered with many faith stories. Others are those of:
- Noah: By faith, he made an ark and saved his household from the flood.
- Sarah: By faith, she became a mother and that of many nations. She also followed her husband to the land the Lord would show them.
- Rahab: By faith, she took in spies and believed the God of the Israelites would save her and her household.
- The Apostles and Disciples who preached the gospel by faith and served God with all their hearts.
What are you trusting God for? Keep the faith and He will surprise you. Ileri Oluwa kiiye. His promises never fail. Remember, the just shall live by faith.
