Once sapa starts dealing with a person, its number one target is food. Eating three times a day becomes a luxury that may not be affordable.

If Sapa has made you ransack your food cupboard over time and you see that there is nothing there, you should read this article as we have curated the perfect food list for you.

WARNING⚠: Below is not just a list, but a LIFE SAVING catalogue for every “saparian”.

Sit tight, fasten your seat belts… Let’s GO  😎

Bread

You can never go wrong with bread, especially when you are broke. Bread is a staple Nigerian food and an absolute lifesaver. It is 100% filling.

I mean, was it not five loaves that fed the multitude in the Bible? Bread is versatile – it can be combined with anything. Although your options are limited when money no dey, you can eat bread with groundnuts, beans, chilled water, noodles, and even spaghetti.

In short, you can pair your bread with almost anything available.

Corn (Agbado)

As this one is presently in season, this is the perfect window for people in sapa’s firm grip. People who have money see corn as a snack, as something to munch on, but for the dear students of sapa, corn will satisfy their hunger.

You can either get the boiled one or the roasted one. Like how versatile bread is, corn can be paired with almost anything as well – coconut, pear, beans, boli, or even stew. Yes, stew. Corn absolutely slaps when you are broke.

Garri

How can our list be complete without the inclusion of the almighty garri? 👑🙌🏻

Any Nigerian household without garri is not a Nigerian household at all. Garri is every ‘saparian’s’ number one best friend. 😄

Garri can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it slaps the hardest when there is nothing else to eat.

This kind of garri is served with chilled water and some sprinkles of groundnut. Then you will now wait for the garri to soak and rise. Chai!

You see, once you are done devouring like this, you will feel like you ate a three course meal. 😎

Concoction Rice

If we are being honest, concoction rice is the number 1 of all rice meals but Nigerians will not admit it until they are broke. Let’s leave this topic for another day…

This “low budget jollof rice” meal is second to garri when you are looking for sapa meals that slap the hardest. So far you’ve got rice, however small it may be, your food for the day don set. You don’t need any extra culinary skills to prepare this meal.

All you need is the combination of whatever ingredients you have left in your pantry and you are set.

If you like, add iru, stock fish, palm oil, or even a paint of pepper. As long as you like the taste, it will work.

Noodles

Where are the great Nigerian students?

Suddenly, noodles have become a delicacy when they are receiving special lectures from sapa.

This kind of noodle is not the type that is printed on the pack with chicken, eggs, or sausages (where is the money for it?).

“Rich men” noodles can never slap when you are broke (your mind will not be at rest with the money you are spending).

Just pour water, put the noodles in, add the spice, and voila! Food is ready 😋

Sapa not only empties your pockets; it also opens your eyes and stomach to various food combos that you would not have thought of if money was flowing.

What other meals slap harder when you are sapa are having a go? Let’s hear it in the comments section!
